This might seem weird but I've always wondered why serial killers, assassins and murders in general don't use compound bows or crossbows. Some estimates put the current number of active serial killers in the USA at 2000. Arrows are silent, can't be traced through ballistics and cause massive damage. In the cases I've looked at most people die in one arrow before they get to the hospital and those that survive die later in the hospital usually from the organ damage.

Is there some scientific reason for this or are murderers just stupid and serial killers want to get up close and personal?
