I study physics in Australia. I overheard some PhD students talking about US and Aus physics programs. They said that a physics degree in the US is what an engineering degree is in Aus. Can anyone add any credence to this?

It depends on the school. If you attend an agg. or engineering focused school your degree will be more engineering oriented. Different than attending a liberal arts school or a research university

It has been a fact for years that US students are not cutting the level that other western countries expect from them.The ammount of interns and undergrats failing in international/foreign companies is insane. The lack of knowledge and child like behavior in American students compared to the other western educated students is a real problem.

They're retarded.
You can argue that an American physics bachelor's isn't as good as an Australian one (probably correctly) but what sense does it make to say "american physics degree = our degree in something vaguely related"?
