Or should we let it spill over into the schools and churches and let the bodies pile up in the streets?

From a scientific viewpoint wouldn't it be better to let hundreds of millions or even billions of people die, as that could help advance science a lot - with less people on the planet, way more money could be spent on science. And a massive culling from a virus could be the cleansing wind which helps humanity get back on track.
