what exactly is verbal IQ and why is it more important for success than mathematical reasoning? people like pic related have a much higher verbal IQ compared with their overall performance IQ.

Mathematical IQ is quantitative, which is cool, but in your daily life and especially in communication, things are MUCH more qualitative.
That's where verbal IQ comes into play.

I believe at its core it's syntax base which would be needed for language structure and reading. Also verbal is the more malleable one compared to spatial/mathematical IQ.
