Why do nurses think they are smart? I follow a nurse on social media and all I see are post from her complaining about how nurses dont get treated well enough or dont get respect. She claims that nurses are smart like doctors. What is wrong with nurses.

I was a nurse and I quit 2 weeks ago. There wasn't a single doctor at my hospital of 800 staff that wasn't a trust fund baby. Not sure if you know this but if you fail a subject at college you can just pay a lot of money and repeat the same subject over and over again till you pass. So people with money often do far better in harder degrees.

Nurses see all the same stuff doctors see and have more hands on experience with the patients and think they know more about what treatments suit what patients.
My mum is a nurse and has been for 20 years and possibly knows better than some doctors but doctors tend to know more from square one whereas nurses know more generally after at least a few decades

Nurses are one of those semi-useful jobs that are majority women and because of the inflated female ego believe they are entitled to the entire world.
See: nurses, teachers and waitresses.
All of them are constantly begging for more money for doing work that, while still useful, a monkey could do.
If I have to listen to some doctor husband chasing single mother nurse, unmarriable early twenties middle school teacher with 100k in student debt she wants to offload on a guy and a waitress who makes 70k a year in tips complaining about how unappreciated they are, I'll shoot myself.

People in scrubs, I won't call them nurses because many of them aren't but people in scrubs are by far the worst humans to other humans

I deliver food as a retirement hobby and it is an incredible statistical anomally. Even minorities in section 8 housing tip more often and tip more money than people in scrubs.

They are genuinely bad people. Not because they don't tip, but the psychology behind why they wouldn't. I'll give you a hint, never entitle yourself to a hero complex. You'll become trash.

You shouldn't over generalize an entire profession. I've been a nurse for 3 years, I was a CNA for 4 years prior while in school. I've met countless "career nurses" that treat the profession as a typical wagie 9-5 type of job, most of them have been middle aged black women.

It depends on the setting but most of the nurses that I have encountered, already know what is going on/is wrong with their patient and what needs to be ordered/done before they even notify the doctor. This comes from work experience and deeper studies into the subject matter. Numerous times I've had to remind a doctor to order x,y or z in addition to what I already knew he was going to order. Healthcare is a liability pecking order system. I've worked with some doctors, and again it depends on the setting, that don't want to be bothered for minor orders (such as lab or diagnostic testing) they want to be called on when you already have the results.

Nursing and medicine are two different fields with two different academic and clinical approaches. Nurses gain a better understanding of holistic care and treatment in comparison to most doctors who are responsible for simply diagnosing, prescibing and signing orders.

Also, "smart" is not an adjective that should be used. There are many nurses that are knowledgeable about certain topics. There are many nurses that are highly skilled clinically. There are many nurses that are simply compassionate and subservient. Again it depends on the setting and what strengths are most required. A "smart nurse" knows this and is aware of their strengths and weaknesses and which setting to work in.
