undergrad is basically liberal arts, they "teach you how to think", and not a lot of tangible skills. that's up to you - if you wanted that you should have gone to trade school.

btw I recently used FFT in my day job. so the math is important, you just probably won't use it the way you expect.

It sounds like he worked on embedded systems or low level programming. Which is one aspect of electrical engineering. Sounds like he went to a shit school, my school basically trained me for being a professional EE.
