Getting into the faculty has fuck all to do with intelligence, competence or anything as long as you satisfy the minimum requirements. It's about politics and knowing the right people. In my former faculty, the professors hated the top students for being able to see through their bullshit. The only ones who got jobs were middling bootlickers.
