People get into certain fields in medicine often times for sentimental reasons:family member died from cervical cancer, colon cancer, rectal cancer, preeclampsia, or prostate cancer; that or they had some bad condition themselves. Some people just want to make a difference bro...not everything is self serving.
I'm a somewhat weird case, I decided to become a pediatric neurologist to learn more about epilepsy and autism. The latter spurred somewhat unironically from my time of this board.
