>>11337980i read a great passage in a book i recently read about how the Cavendish lab at cambridge had rediculously bad radiation safety protocols in the early days. and the guy they were interviewing was like 90 (in the 1980s when the book was written) so i got the impression that people of that generation thought radiation was a lot more harmless that we think it is now. they were probably wrong but at the same time maybe radiation isn’t all that harmful for average folks m. the FDA guidelines for radiation are (they admit) very low and it might benefit humanity if radiation exposure thresholds were relaxed given that at present most people who work in nuclear labs get less exposure from their experiments than they do from airline flights
