Anyhow I would assume that ethnocentric groups cooperate more due to its individuals having more shared genes/similar phenotype resulting in optimized kin selection. This makes such groups able to outcompete those who don't follow the same model, i.e. a humanitarian one, since they're lower in cooperation and overall trust when there's less incentive to be cooperative when there's less genetic benefits, unless such a group select against instincts for kin selection, which would probably be a very big disadvantage in the long term when competing against a kin selective group which would be better at passing on their genes. I would see China as the modern equivalent of a very high kin selected nation and western-European and American countries to have recently adopted a more humanitarian model which should result in a decline in kin selection. The question is how these trends will change over time and what effect they'll have on fitness and natural selection.
There's also the issue of some humanitarian nations having welfare by having the rich and intelligent subsidizing the poor which encourages less intelligent classes to reproduce disproportionally compared with those with higher intelligence which even, in some cases, are discouraged from reproducing.
