Occasionally I'll hear a very, very low pitch, faint, bu impossible ignore whirring, or rhythmic rumbling. Pulsing. Can't get away from it. Can't get it to stop. Hasn't happened in several years, but my father was hearing this before he died, I couldn't hear it at the time.
With sleep deprivation the tinnitus and any ambient sound turn into music or other soundscapes. I think this a cholinergic thing, or is connected with this system AchEIs bring it on as well.
