Quantities or magnitudes can equal each other. These are finite by definition so infinity does not fit the criteria.
Functions can have the value of infinity but that does not make the functions interchangeable. The value 'infinity' is a shorthand for a concept, but the function resulting in that concept matters. The concept does not exist outside of that function, each time you define something that results in infinity, you are defining different tings. Different things do not equal, unless shown to equal.
