he describes a super high voltage "direct arc" transmitter, "direct arc" meaning that the spark or arc is the medium for the tranfers of the energy from one terminal to the other and NOT AN ELECTROMAGNETIC "WAVE" or "hertzian wave" this is why he was able to obtain higher efficiencies , in that pattent he explains very clearly all the reasoning behing it and how you need super high volatges in the MV (million volts) range to get high efficiencies all this is simple ohm's law the higher the voltage the lower the current needed for the same amount of power, he describes all this in the pattent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is really sad that the tesla fans don't even care read the material he published! they only read third parties that also didn't make the effort to read what he said!
in that paper he describes a small unit for his lab were the terminals are encapsule inside a tube then this tube is exhausted ( vacuum), he explains with detail that this is to improve efficiency at ""lower voltages"" (this are still high voltages!), he also describes the possibility to make this type of transmiter at big scales at even higher voltage, he never made one at big scale, only experimentals in his labs they were big but they were still only experimental!
I can't post all the pattent here (or maybe I should...) but he clearly describes THE IDEA to use this system at large scale, he doesn't have a large system build, thats where the wanderclyffe tower comes to be, but the tower finally didn't perform as he spected and finally J.P. morgan got out of the proyect.
