You've just got to take it as part of the natural order, buddy. Getting killed and eaten must suck but that suffering for that one creature is a tiny speck of horrible in the awesome interacting web of killing and consuming that turns what would be a rock in space into an animated world.
It sucks for the bug when the rat eats it. Then it sucks for the rat when a wild cat eats it. But if the cat didnt eat the rabbit, the cat would starve and same goes for the bug and the rat. Then the wolf wouldn't get to eat the cat and keep living.
If it weren't for the dying animals, so much would not come to be. The prey dies, but it's "life force" gets passed down the chain, and the predator couldn't live without it. So the life is not being extinguished, just passed around.
