everyone says how natural selection and evolution are the reason for our preferences (for example, for visual signs of fertility in females)
but what is the scientific, evolutionary or otherwise "useful" reason behind people getting off on sexual corruption and on their wife being unfaithful to them?

I saw the pic in some other board and asked myself for what reason the human psyche would prefer something like this when it goes against all of self preservation, evolution and natural selection. would something like this, that goes against the core of self replication be weeded out by now?

I don't have an answer from a biological point of view, but I know from experience most of the men that get cheated seem to have become very feminine in their behaviour and completely neglected their partners need for mystery and excitement.
