I'm actually molecular bio myself but I feel like the people in most labs doing all the actual thinking are just programmers that got interested in biology. I really need to learn to code but I keep blowing it off.
Other thread topic: post recs for learning to code for biobrainlets such as myself, preferably with lots of fun activities and writing silly gimmicky programs to compensate for my complete lack of an attention span.
