I've heard many people say lightning cannot hurt you if you are struck inside your car because the tires act as an insulator, and that if a powerline falls in your car you must remain inside because when you exit your foot will ground the electricity killing you.. Yet I have found at least 3 cases in just 5 minutes of googling of people being killed or hospitalised after lightning struck their car. No details as to how it happened. The only answer I can come up with is there car had a grounding rod. Am I right?
