First of all, I am not religious. However, I've always considered that a lot of religious people tend to accept religion only for the promise of heaven after death, since the unknown is the scariest thing in existence. But imagine an inmortal being, like an elf from the Lord of the Rings or an android. Can religion offer anything to it? There is any psychological reason for our minds to searh confort in being part of a group and constantly making sacrifices? If we find the technology to become inmortal, will religions disappear?
