But then again, if you're not perfectly well yourself, you may accept a rationalizing of some crazy if he tells you that some invisible spirit told me to do it and now he has to obey. You may even consider that person a saint. But the sad (or funny) truth is that saint is insane in the same way troubled is in trouble.
That final sentence was a joke, but I'm not sure if it's just a joke and not some ridiculously accurate etymology and a fruit of some linguistic genius or an influential poet.
