Mirtazapine and becaming stupid

I am an anxious guy... I can't sleep without some pills... I usually take trazodone which acts on H1 receptors and it's less anticolinergic than most of other antihistamine drugs.. but it's also pretty weack
I know that benzodiazepine are probably the strongest but also cause dementia
Do you think that Mirtazapine (which has also a strong antihistamine) but not so much anticolinergic effects could be the better choise?
P.S. After I take an over the counter antihistamine to sleep I feel to urge to smoke the next day (usually I don't)... probably because of anticolinergic effect the brain wants nicotine (which shares pretty much the same molecular of acetilcoline)
also with antihistamine the tollerance is built up pretty quickly
