There’s a lot of engineering jobs that defense and aerospace companies can’t outsource because of ITAR and other security restrictions, and as boomers keep dying off, there will be open positions in those industries.
Aero, defense, automotive, petroleum, control systems, 3D printing, manufacturing are always in need of mechanical engineers.
I would suggest you don’t make the same mistake I did and look for jobs that don’t specifically state “mechanical engineer” in the title since there’s so much that you can do as a mech e because of how wide your knowledge base will be.
