I was there in an early age. Like suicidal at ten (I always like to lead the pack). 16 years later I am mostly happy to live, even though the dark thoughts, the apathy and the absolute lack of enjoyment, connection and "liveness" still are part of my life. However, I learned to deal with them. The good news is that your situation is not the result of something random, you can change quite a lot (e.g. preventing stress etc.)

Get help if you can. Pull through, shamelessly do what is good for you (or causes you the least pain) and when it is better, you should work on your prevention skills.

Sucks to have a brain that half-asses its job. Luckily we can change our brians. All the best anon!

It doesn't change anything. Trust me when I say that your problems won't go away with a gf.

My life is void even though I'm with the sweetest girl imaginable. Depression and hopelessness are sometimes born from more than your circumstances.

I'd like to blame my mental state on everyone but myself but that won't help me and it wouldn't be true. Maybe my brain is out if balance but I dont know how to right it. I remember the times when I felt more alive when I had so much less.

Hang in there anon. It can only get better. That's the only honest advice I can give myself.

I am sure Mother Theresa was a great person, but my anaconda don't want none, cause she ain't got buns.

True, I KNOW the world is amazing and awesome, filled with evil and good people.
I know I will age and my body and mind will wither and then I will die.
This IS life and it it what I have, but I can make the time I have filled with fun and love or least believe that one day it can be or at least I can make it that way for another.
No... I am not depressed, life IS pain and struggle, and failure, ending in death.
I know this.
But I have felt love and kindness and generosity and good friendship, so I look forward to tomorrow.

You need to understand Japanese culture to get this cartoon.
It is unheard of to express strong emotions to someone at a young age in Japaneses culture.
Holding hands is considered a huge public display of affection.
notice she is blushing all the time a s a kid, she is laughing with shock and joy and social embarrassment. He probably still shows her public affection. In the last panel he probably just kissed her and she is touching the spot he kissed and laughing with her daughter about how strange int is that this Japanese man show her such affection in front of others (their daughter)
