In an ideal world, animals would have their place to live and no one would bother them, hunt them, destroy their habitat etc... and thus they would be much better off living in nature, as violent as it is. But since they would be most likely be hunted or their habitats destroyed, those animals who live under the protection of humans are better off in my opinion.
