It's extremely unlikely they'll even be able to interpret most of our attempts as communication as that of sentience instead of random thrashing, but the wonderful loophole of math is that it's inherently universal- it's likely that no one is getting interstellar travel without a strong understanding of arithmetic, and will see the 3-4-5 right triangle and a^2 + b^2 = c^2 formula the same way we do (though you might use dashes or dots instead of arabic numerals, just in case.)
