Just go to a testing center and do the practice test. If you're not retarded it should be easy, you probably don't even need to study.
I'd never gone to grade school, and I wasn't taught anything, so I thought I'd be studying for a year, if I was lucky, to learn everything others already had in school. At the time, supposedly only 60% of a random sample of recent highschool graduates would pass in one attempt.
In reality, I practiced for a week with Khan Academy and a book about the test from the public library. Took a practice test after that and was told to just go take it straight away. I even got paid almost 400 bucks based on my score in exchange for sitting through a four hour supplementary thing afterward.
