what university did you do your MS in? I recently got accepted into several PhD chemistry progams but I am having doubts about the degree. Apart of me feels an intuition that an MS should be enough to get a good research job in industry.

Depends what field you're in. Chemical biology or analytical, you should be fine. Organic synthesis in biotech/pharma or synthetic med chem, more and more of those jobs are being outsourced. Biotech/pharma shops have PhDs on staff to work on contract synthesis, go back and forth with the CROs, blah blah blah, but as an MS you're more likely to be an extra set of hands in the lab.

organic. The university I am looking at has several total synthesis groups which is what i'm most attracted to. Do you think analytical is the way to go for US employment opportunities? I find mass spectrometry and chromatography very interesting but my statistics background is lacking.

For people who stop at the BA/BS, yes. But, for anyone going into a PhD program, I'd recommend chemical biology. With your background and interests, you'd be more of a "big C" chemical biology: peptide chemistry, structural biology, in vitro assay development.

I got a degree in chem and started a PhD in theoretical/computational chem. Dropped out a year into the program. You're not finding a good job with that degree.

I would advise if you aren't particularly talented you shouldn't go into those fields, especially for employment.
You might find a job, not a high paying one but a job nonetheless.
