Why is it that we're so eager to show Denisovans are a separate species from Neanderthals, even though using the same mehtods we can also show Africans and the like are a distinct species as well?

People want to pretend it's not, but politics is an enormous part of all scientific fields. So heavy it's almost impossible to do the work in many cases. That's difficult to do, but the general definition (at least for sexually-reproducing species) would be something like: Populations that are morphologically distinct from one another and which are separated by physical or other barriers and which have limited interbreeding.
