Actually meteorology, climatology is applied physics. I know kids probably can't explain well how mass of wet air behaves, but they are sure we're fucked up by the lack of rain if atmosphere goes warmer, and that's teached on basic schools, and you should know that by age of 13.
It's very good of them, they started to solve the issue. Even my generation was asked to, but they wanted to save a planet, I told them, which I deeply regret because it sprung out some unwanted opinions, that planet will be okey, just humanity and life as we know it cannot survive but I am sure there been writting competitions for this 10 years ago...
