I've finally decided to definitely for good give up on the idea of getting a Ph.D. in mathematics or anything at all. If I could list some reasons to explain myself off the top of my head I'd probably list
>The risk/reward ratio is completely insane
>having a "normal" job turned out to be comfier than I believed in the past
>I'm not a genius so I'll definitely struggle with everything people say they struggle with, I will not be a Tao breezing through it while the entire world sucks my dick.
>quora has been bombarding my email with academia horror stories

I just want to be happy. I already have my degree in mathematics and a job that is tangentially related so I want to at least do something with that. Does anyone have any similar experiences and what you did after giving up on the Ph.D.? I'm now thinking of an MSc + MBA. The masters would likely be in mathematics, and the MBA most likely something to do with statistics.
