how far are we from a cure to alzheimer's and/or dementia?

my wife and I both come from families where alzheimer's is common and we're afraid of one or both of us getting it when we're older. I'm paranoid as fuck about it, I've changed my diet because of my fear, I want some kind of hope that by the time we're in our 60's science has gotten to the point where preventative drugs exist at least
