The rates were never high (5% vs 2% in a 10k sample size), they're easily treated with phototherapy, and it's known that the type of vitamin k they used to use caused jaundice, the hepatitis b vaccine can cause jaundice, pitocin can cause distress and jaundice. These confounders are never mentioned or controlled for.
