I always hated it. Why is it there? Nobody wants it. It is just a waste of space. Why can't we just all agree that c = 0 and be done with it.

because the indefinite integral is a set of functions that its derivative is equal to the integrand. And since derivative of a constant is 0 we have to add some constant to the result of integration
