C-sections are becoming increasingly common because they're safer and faster. A lot of women are also scared out of natural birth.
An obstetrician I've been shadowing says c sections are becoming too common and doctors are forgetting how to naturally deliver complicated babies (eg breech babies) in Australia.
There's also a financial incentive.

I agree. Was just saying that from a lot of the doctors perspective some prefer c sections because the delivery is safer and that's what they care about (and not the long term unfortunately). I think especially in some countries with the risk of being sued they would especially gravitate towards c sections.
Although I completely agree that vaginal birth is much better in almost every way if it's safely possible, and the number of c sections we're performing is far too high. When people get angry at the medical system they point to vaccinations and clamping etc... When really it's things like this which are a real issue.

Not very sure since I'm just a medical student. The sitting method with legs apart seems like it might be favoured for breech babies, and kneeling seems like one that's usually encouraged for normal births.
I don't think lying down flat is commonly advised.

yeah, because natural births are perfect and riskless.

because there's no use for forceps, suction cups, rotational maneuvers, luxation of the child articulations, vaginal and perineal tears, etc

c-sections are still easier and present less uncalculated risks.
