Im doing my masters in computer science because I didn't do undergraduate research and I'm still trying to define what my research area is. What interests me is design of software and computing-related resources that can be wildly understood to provide agency to their audiences. Contemporary design does not emphasize this, and it is leading to systems that are too complex to provide free interaction. Does this remotely make sense to anyone? What should I do, should I just forget about this and do what everyone else is doing and study HPC or ML?
