2. The countries that are capable of getting into space don't want to fight in space. The most we could really do is destroy each other's satellites anyway, which would cause major problems later (though if there were a war between the US and China, or the US and Russia, we'd have much more pressing problems).
3. None of us can really extract resources from anything in space yet -- not on an industrial scale, anyway. Apart from a handful of scientist/technician astronauts, no one's living there. So there's not a whole lot to fight -over-, unless someone decides they want to start turning their rivals' satellites into space junk -- and even then, it would make more sense to retaliate by attacking their country directly, destroying their ability to do that.
