You have to trick your mind into thinking the information it's taking in is important and therefore worth memorizing and analyzing.

Best way to do so is to immerse yourself in the topic and relearn it periodically until it is second nature or you can land a job with it.

The internet is full of resources including indexes, text books and terabytes of content for any subject worth learning.

Read that link. I'm so glad my middle school teacher taught us that. I found that I could learn anything with that technique - just switch it up a bit if I'm learning abstract subjects like math.

Don't do that.
Read a word. Repeat aloud. Read another. Repeat aloud both. Read third, repeat all. Keep doing it until you can recite the enyire thing from memory.
You may use longer chunks than words if you are capable to.
You may want to drop early parts from time to time and recite only from a certain point onwards.
Much faster and more reliable than the memory palace

That's a fine method and it's what a lot of people do. But I prefer memory loci because I can 'search my mind' for specifics, kind of like doing ctrl-f on a computer.
And I can combine it with other techniques to store even more information (condensing information). Eg. Azadirachtin, there's a lot of Ch3- methyl groups, I can use the Major system to remember how many and then I just need to mentally walk along the molecule until I understand it.
