Also do the percentages mean that that many white people own that thing? Or does it mean that's the percent chance that they're white? So in 2016, do 63.4% of white people own a pet (I doubt that), or is it actually that if someone owns a pet, there's a 63.4% chance that they're white? I assume it's probably the latter because that seems more plausible. So I guess that would mean that 63.4% of pet owners are white. Not that 63.4% of ALL white people own a pet.
But still. The fact that pet ownership is now the best predictor of whether someone is white (among the factors considered in this survey, of course) is pretty crazy.
Also why do they only do the survey every 12 years? 12 years seems like a weird interval for a survey like that.
>>11279734You might have a point, since it was mainly white people who bred dogs to do work for us - herding sheep, protecting the house, hunting foxes, catching scents, whatever. Of course in Asia they eat dogs. And I don't know about Africa, but I know that Ancient Egypt revered cats, and I've heard nothing of them revering dogs.
