Why do normies do this? What is so fascinating to them about letting others know that they're still listening to older music today? I would have posted on /mu/, but I'm genuinely curious about knowing why. Does anyone here know the explanation or have any guesses why they do this? Most old and popular music video have these comments. It's not like it's only a few comments, the entire comment section is literally full of people stating the year they're listening to the music. It's so bizarre.

Some guy on urban dictionary thinks these comments are just an easy way to get likes, but that still doesn't explain why they're getting likes in the first place. Who would honestly like that kind of comment?

Is it a form of validation? Does it comfort them by knowing that they aren't alone in watching the old music? I know from real life experience that normies think it's weird to like old music unless it's still popular. Maybe it's literally them just reaffirming each other that it's okay to like this music?
