If Venus was Earth-like with a breathable atmosphere, temperate climate, and liquid water oceans (but devoid of any life with the exception of any microbial life needed to create oxygen), would we have already colonized or started to colonize it as of 2020? If so, would the colonies be more or less just research stations? Or would there be settlements were people choose to live and establish their lives and families?

Would the expense, long travel times, and dangers of space travel prevent this? Or would we have focused more time and effort into mitigating such things to the point where regular travel to the planet would be common place?

Would there be any economically viable trade between Earth and Venus if colonies were established? Or would they essentially just be isolated economically due to the cost of interplanetary trade?
