well if time travel is possible you have to think the present moment the same way you think of your current spacial location. just like you don't assume "here" is the only place that exists, you don't assume "now" is the only moment that exists, it's just where (or rather, when) you find yourself in.

The “future” isn’t any less real than the present and the past is. This is the B-theory of time, and the one compatible with physics.

Also in real time travel you wouldn’t be traveling into the past, everything else would. It would be like you were a character in a VHS sitcom and at the end of the episode you climbed out of the tv, pressed the rewind button, then climbed back in. Which is also why in real time travel you would never meet your past self

that's one type of "time travel" (that would require basically Godlike powers from the time traveler to be able to revert the whole universe to a previous state like that) but the most real and literal form of time travel is when you go back to the past exactly as it were, meaning all the actions you do on your trip were always a part of history (novikov self-consistency principle).

When people want time travel they want a desired affect. While the VHS time travel thing doesn’t fit the classical narrative of time travel, I do think it would be the closest example of what it would look like. The way you would achieve the affect is if you could travel faster than time, time relative to you would be traveling backwards. It would look like the entire universe was playing in reverse (unless since time and space are the same thing traveling faster than time would just catapult you out of existence)
