I think I have an important novel understanding of some interrelated things and wrote a few-thousand word draft on my idea over a couple days, but have no equations or proofs. I'm an outsider to academia so I don't really know what to do. Can a scientific paper be published and recognized if it contains only postulations with no formulae? I need to continue refining my paper more before I do anything, but I really don't know the right avenues once that's finished. I am considering contacting a local university to try discussing it with someone in a relevant department to either find a partner to work on the paper with me or just get advice on where to go with it, but I figured I'd see what you guys thought. I'm also nervous about the concepts being hijacked AFTER discussing them with others but BEFORE I have a chance to publish, so if anyone has any advice, experiences or knowledge to share about establishing authorship of a work pre-publication that would also be hugely appreciated.
