This is a weird question, not really sure it belongs here but I couldn't think of a better board.

If you did pic related surgically and clean, and let's say the wound itself healed fine, what would happen to the bone? Would it dry up and die even though it is still attached? Would you just get an instant infection in the bone? I know bones are porous even though they don't look it, I just don't know exactly what would happen.

I don't know a lot about bones, but I saw a picture awhile back of some krokodil user that had a fully exposed leg bone due to their flesh falling away. It made me wonder if there was a "clean" way to do that and make it sustainable. And no, I'm not planning for some extreme body modifications, I'm just curious and have no idea what would happen. Granted, the picture here is pretty extreme, so what if the section exposed was smaller, still the same result?
