No, the first world is not perfect but there's little for us, as individuals, to do since there already several layer of system keeping things up and running, and bureaucracy is too swollen to easily get things started without navigating the seas of laws and certificatory bullshit. The only part you can do is starting a business, wageslaving until retirement or get into politics.
But after a society-destroying event, where leaders or managers have perished? Well fuck, there would be a lot to do and nobody to strangle our attempts with ceaseless bureaucracy. You want to set up a shop? You set up a shop. You want to operate in logistics? Buy some trucks and transport the fucking goods.
When there are holes people will fill them, as long as they can cooperate. Seeing people do nothing but complains aggravates you? Step up as a leader and boss them around with promises of better life under your obviously brightly enlightnening vision. You have a massive hardon for city planning and designing roads and plumbing makes you cum buckets? Step up as an advisor to make your wildest dream come true.
I don't know why such people aren't popping up like mushrooms in those third worlds, or if they're being actively ignored by their rulers, but if the populace does nothing to fight back such corruption then they deserve it all. If our forefather have fought for their rights, so can they.
