Why is it asserted that the Michelson-Morley experiment has proven the non-existence of the aether?
It was a null result, and somehow that proves a negative? Isn't this just an appeal to ignorance?

Could it not be so that such an aether may be dynamic, but also be confined locally to the terrestrial sphere, and so impossible to detect with such a set-up? The result would be null so long as the aether at ground level was at rest relative to the Earth's rotation.
Could this same explanation of an aether that adheres gravitationally to the terrestrial sphere also suffice to describe the curved path of light travelling near such heavenly bodies?

Couldn't the fluid pressure of such a medium also suffice to provide for the phenomena of gravitation?

Would not this aether also suffice to account for the alleged dark matter in the universe?
