Math or Stats Masters

Hello Anons.
My understanding is that a Masters in Math or Stats from a decent school will secure me decently payed employment, with many of the Math jobs in teaching and many of the Stats jobs in finance or insurance.
Am I completely wrong or right, how so?
Any anecdotes, wisdom, musings welcome.

Teaching is not as lucrative or even interesting if you only have an MSc, so I wouldn't even consider it. And unless you already have some formal education in mathematics, going a pure math/stats route to end up in finance might be more trouble than it's worth. There are specialized degrees in actuarial sciences for that.

I did two internships in my first and third years of university. These were both related to finance and programming. By the time I finished my fourth year I was already employed at the bank I'm still working in. Those last few months of the university were really stressful due to having to juggle a full-time job and finishing my studies, but surviving that saved me from uncertainty.

I've yet to do any other significant career moves.

Don't be a retard and study something that can actually give you a good salary and stability.

Just pick whichever Engineering you like the best if you have the brain power for it.

I agree, its not like college is the only place you can learn something. Pick engineering or cs and learn math in your free time. A college degree is signaling, dont signal that you learned something useless.
