No, it most definitely is not "all the way down". Algebra by itself is not particularly useful. Algebra is merely a formalism allowing you to make use of symmetries in you problem to reduce its complexity. Thats why it is very useful in many different areas, but by itself only leads to abstract bullshit such as category theory.
