The chemistry aspect of it is, for the same reason engineers assisting physicists aren’t scientists unless they contribute to the interpretation and model of the experiment or theory programmers assisting with chem, phys, bio aren’t scientists or doing science. Though their assistance is always appreciated and its never too late to learn enough science to become a competent researcher even without a graduate degree desu :^)
