>>11268930>DoubtIt's not impossible but I think space travel will only become a reality when fossil fules are about to run out (probably not even in 300 years) , we might need to gather hydrogen to make fuel. But that's only if we want chemical energy for planes and rockets and such. I think that if we truly invent fusion energy we might never go to space. If we have large amounts of relatively clean energy I forsee a swap to electric energy for pretty much everything. I don't really see humans ever terraforming a planet or settling on Mars or something. It just seems like unless we're literally running out of essentials here on Earth; there is no good reason to explore the cosmos in "person". Why send humans when u can send robots?
I think the only scenario where humans develop star wars level of space travel is one where extremists win over the political process. Think autocratic government or totalitarian state (that is focused on space travel) . I don't think private business is going to be successful in facilitating space travel.
