Even ignoring the positive reasons to believe in the multiverse (fine-tuning for example), my default assumption is always that the whole reality is bigger than we can observe or know about. It would be just an odd coincidence if the part of reality some evolved apes on one random planet are aware of at any particular moment in history happens to be everything that exists.

As the other anon mentioned, fine-tuning is a pretty good argument. Multiverse and the anthropic principle aren't popsci ideas anymore and the idea is at least entertained by ok serious physicist

Yes, for the same reason I think aliens exist. Life evolved on this planet so we know its possible for that to happen, given enough chances even unlikely events will occur. The fact that this universe exists means its possible for other universes to exist. What ever caused the big bang, must be possible, why would it only happen once?
