why does this board hate CS so much?

aren't a lot of physics, math, applied math, applied physics etc majors just going to end up as programmers? I mean what else do you really do with those degrees if you don't go get a phd or law/med?

what's the matter with software as a profession?

it's just a tool to further other disciplines, ultimately

Math is literally the opposite though. Math classes is t learning notations, its mostly trying to solve problem and prove things.
You literally learn to think rigorously and that allows to think and make reliable assessments about anything that you can measure and somehow express in mathematical notation.

well, id argue that by the same token, CS in a good program is about learning to solve problems too. it helps you learn to solve any kind of problem that can be somehow expressed or made pliable with an algorithm.

i'm not trying to be a CS apologist here but genuinely want to know why CS sucks on this board.

so far, i basically see CS and math as similar, tools with which to solve other problems in other disciplines.
